Heartcore Records is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Kurt Rosenwinkel’s The Remedy with a re-release arriving October 30, 2026.
Originally recorded in January 2006 during a week of performances at New York’s legendary Village Vanguard, The Remedy was first released in March 2008. The album captures Rosenwinkel alongside Mark Turner on saxophone, Aaron Goldberg on piano, Joe Martin on bass, and Eric Harland on drums, performing eight tracks that showcase the depth and spontaneity of the ensemble.
Building on the musical foundations of The Next Step and Deep Song, The Remedy brought together Rosenwinkel’s distinctive compositional approach with the freedom of live improvisation. Blending post-bop, hip-hop influences, and contemporary jazz, the album explores new dimensions of group interplay while remaining rooted in the musicians’ individual voices.
Upon its original release, The Remedy received critical acclaim. All About Jazz praised the album, writing: “The virtuosity on display throughout these two discs is an unrelentingly emphatic expression of what it means to put impeccable musicianship in service of art.”
To celebrate the album’s enduring legacy, Kurt Rosenwinkel is also bringing The Remedy on tour across Europe in autumn 2026, joined by Seamus Blake on tenor saxophone, Aaron Goldberg on piano, Joe Martin on bass, and Kendrick Scott on drums.
The re-release of The Remedy will be available on October 30, 2026, across digital platforms. The CD edition is available for pre-order through the Heartcore Records website, with limited CD shipping to the United States available.
