New release by Daniel Santiago – Song for Tomorrow is out now!

“Listen to this, I guarantee it will change your mind, it gives me peace and hope, it makes me want to play.”

– Eric Clapton

Acclaimed guitarist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Santiago released his latest record, Song for Tomorrow, on April 9th, 2021 on Heartcore Records. Imbued with Brazilian spirit, the attitude and power of classic rock, and the ingenuitive disposition of modern improvised music, Song for Tomorrow is a bold artistic statement from a musician widely respected and known for his virtuosity and creative identity.

Produced by jazz legend Kurt Rosenwinkel, Santiago’s new album is one of the most ambitious and innovative releases of 2021; Song for Tomorrow thirteen original compositions feature guest performances from Eric Clapton, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Pedro Martins, Aaron Parks, and others. A record well suited to the ears of indie-rockers, world music listeners, and just about anyone else, Song for Tomorrow is the latest addition to Heartcore Record’s catalogue of genre-defying contemporary artistic work.

Daniel Santiago is a multi-faceted artist who, for the past twenty years has been a key contributor to the Brazilian and world music scenes and has been nominated for four consecutive Latin Grammy awards and many other accolades. In addition to collaborations with Milton Nascimento, Hamilton de Holanda, John Paul Jones, Hermeto Pascoal, Joshua Redman, and many others, Santiago has released three of his own records, and has enjoyed success as a composer and producer . His duo project Simboise, a collaboration with Brazilian guitarist Pedro Martins, was a featured performance at Eric Clapton’s 2019 Crossroads Guitar Festival, an event which was the catalyst leading up to Song for Tomorrow.

In November of 2019, following their acclaimed performance at Crossroads, Santiago and Martins flew to Berlin to begin work on Song for Tomorrow at Kurt Rosenwinkel’s Heartcore Studios. These sessions, produced by Rosenwinkel, were full of a deeply sympathetic emotional connection amongst all musicians involved, something that can be clearly felt, heard, and experienced by the listener. Santiago spoke of Song for Tomorrow from his home in Brazil, “For me having Eric Clapton, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Pedro Martins involved with this album is like a dream. Our connection is more than just the love of guitar- it is a way of understanding life, music, art, the feelings and emotions of things that can’t be put into words.”

Song for Tomorrow invites listeners to experience that connection first-hand, and it’s unique blend of rock sensibilities with deep melodic sonority defy easy categorization or comparison. Daniel Santiago and his ensemble are moving forward, pushing boundaries and exploring new territory- Song for Tomorrow is the wave of the future. The album is available on Heartcore Records as a vinyl, digitally for purchase and all digital platforms.
